We recruit qualified teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for our group courses for juniors. Ideally applicants should have a relevant first degree plus a teacher training qualification in the teaching of English as a foreign or second language such as the Cambridge CELTA or the Trinity TESOL. There are a large number of organisations running teacher training courses in this area and issuing certificates. We assess and investigate our applicants’ qualifications on a case- by- case basis. If in doubt, we seek advice from the British Council. Applicants with a QTS (Qualified Teacher’s Status) in relevant subjects such as English language or modern languages are also invited to apply. Our tutors may also be asked to teach our junior or adult students individually in the student’s place of residence. This could be in a host family’s home, a hotel or self-catering holiday accommodation.
If you are interested in teaching for Mercator, send us your CV including two references in the first instance, indicating your availability. It would be helpful to have the details of your valid Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. In the absence of this, we will have to apply for one. All references will be followed up either before or after the interview. Successful candidates will be invited to attend an induction day prior to the start of the course.
